School Council

What do The School Council do?

Pupil voice is a very important part of the life of our school. We are using the British Value of democracy to make sure we all have a say in how our school could develop further and what role we can each play in that development.

We use democratic elections when choosing our school council members which are from Year 1 to Year 6.  Our school council elections take place in the autumn term of each new academic school year.  Pupils in all classes can decide to put themselves forward to be their class representative on the council. They had to prepare a short presentation to persuade their class peers what skills they felt were important and how they would be great at putting forward the ideas and views of the class at school council meetings.

Following these short presentation there are class elections where each pupil has a vote on who they think would represent their class the best.   All votes are then counted and the members of the new school council are announced in our Whole School Celebration Assembly.

The school council then meet through the school year to help make decisions about the school.  They discuss ways on improving our school and feedback what their class members would like to see happen as well.
