This site has some fantastic VE day activities for the whole family.

The Book of Hopes

Completely free for all children and families, the extraordinary collection of short stories, poems, essays and pictures has contributions from more than 110 children’s writers and illustrators, including Lauren Child, Anthony Horowitz, Greg James and Chris Smith, Michael Morpurgo, Liz Pichon, Axel Scheffler, Francesca Simon and Jacqueline Wilson.

On this site there are a variety of exciting lessons and activities. It is worth a look!


A free application that helps children to create their very own video games. It also introduces basic programming concepts.

Diocese of Leeds Schools Singing Program

 This YouTube channel and website has some excellent singing lessons at various times throughout the week.

  • A daily Virtual Singing Session aimed at KS2 will be running at 2pm Monday-Friday.
  • From Monday 27th April, there will be a weekly KS1 Virtual Singing Session at 11am.
  • Mrs Appleyard will be running the Friday sessions so please tune in!

Oxford Owl

A range of reading books which can be downloaded for free. You will be asked to create a login for the website, but will not be charged.

Bug Club (Key Stage 1 only)

A range of reading books which have been selected by your child’s class teacher to match the reading band your child is reading in school. You will have been sent a log in and password to enable you to access this site.

Foundation Stage Ideas '50 Things to do'


Your child will already have a login for this if they are in Year 2 or above. A great way for children to practise their times tables, particularly those preparing for their Multiplication Test or SATs.

Phonics Play

A range of phonics games which the children are familiar with playing in class.

Spelling Frame

A range of spelling games for children to play which also gives them the opportunity to practise spelling patterns from their year group and previous year groups if necessary. Some resources need a subscription to access them but there are lots of free ones too!

Teach your monster to read

A fun and interactive website where your child teaches their monster to read. Perfect for Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children. This is available as an app but the computer version is completely free.

Top Marks

Top Marks have a range of interactive games for children of all ages. These cover both English and Maths objectives and are sorted into different categories so you can choose which range of games is most appropriate for your child.

ICT Games

A range of maths and English games which can be played on a laptop or tablet for children in Key Stage 1 and lower Key Stage 2 (Y3/4). The literacy games are generic activities and the Maths games are grouped into place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, shape and measurement. The site is free to use.

A mixture of subjects including Maths, English and Science. It includes explanations and activities in a high quality child friendly way.

White Rose Maths Hub

The White Rose Maths Team has prepared a series of five brand new maths lessons for each year group. Every lesson comes with a short video showing you clearly and simply how to help your child to complete the activity successfully.

Number Blocks BBC (Iplayer)

A series of short (5mins) high quality child friendly maths videos using the BBC Iplayer. Suitable for Foundation Stage.

This calm pack is designed to help rest and relax with a calming meditation set of relaxation exercise cards, affirmation cards and some activities.
