Physical Education
Physical education at St Mary’s Catholic Primary Academy is an integral part of the curriculum.
We were thrilled to be awarded the Silver School Games Award in 23-24.
Our program has been coherently planned and sequenced so it develops all children’s knowledge, skills, understanding, and health and well-being. This then, allows them the best chance to perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activities and competitive games.
Our school’s physical education curriculum contributes to an increased awareness and positive attitude to the benefits of exercise, a healthy and active lifestyle and an enjoyable use of leisure time as well as a varied understanding of physical skill and rules of play. We give the children the opportunity to experience a range of sporting activities and to compete in competitions, aimed at improving and supporting all abilities.
We encourage not only physical progression but also progression within wider life skills within our cog based units that are focused on developing all children as a whole and allowing them the best opportunity to succeed in life.
